We are happy to announce our weekly Balboa classes, starting from Thursday January 8th.
The classes are designed as a structured and continuous training path, with a strong focus on technique, musicality, and partner connection, while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable.
Every Thursday.
Foundations — 18:30 – 19:30
Development — 19:45 – 20:45
Refinement — 21:00 – 22:00
Our class levels are intended as guidelines rather than fixed categories. Each level describes a general stage in the learning process, but dancers may move between levels over time as their experience and focus evolve.
When registering, you are welcome to indicate the level you feel most comfortable with. To ensure well-balanced groups and a positive learning environment, the final level placement will be decided by the teachers, taking into account the overall group composition and how dancers work within the class.
Our aim is to create groups where everyone feels both comfortable and challenged, and where learning can happen at a steady and enjoyable pace.
This level is open to dancers who are discovering Balboa as well as to those who want to strengthen and clarify their basics.
We focus on exploring the core Balboa vocabulary and understanding how the dance works at a fundamental level: rhythm, posture, weight transfer, and partner connection. Classes work with essential material such as basic rhythms, come-arounds, lollies, and simple toss-outs, helping dancers feel comfortable with how these elements function in social dancing.
The aim is to build confidence and ease, so that the basic movements feel clear, relaxed, and reliable, and can be used naturally on the dance floor.
This level is for dancers who feel comfortable with the basic structure of Balboa and enjoy expanding their movement options.
We build on familiar material such as lollies, toss-outs, swivels, and transitions between close and open positions, using them as a base to explore new ideas and variations. Attention is given to flow, timing, and musical choices, helping dancers connect movements smoothly and adapt them to different musical contexts.
Dancers are encouraged to start creating their own variations by playing with direction, rhythm, and dynamics, while maintaining clear communication and a relaxed connection with their partner.
This level is for dancers who feel confident adapting their dancing to different partners, music, and situations on the social floor.
Classes focus on refining technique, efficiency, and musical response through more complex material such as triple rhythms, varied toss-out structures, Texas Tommies, and subtle rhythmic or directional changes. These elements are used as tools to deepen understanding rather than as goals in themselves.
The emphasis is on developing a personal way of dancing: experimenting with movement choices, refining detail and timing, and responding creatively to the music, while staying grounded in connection and clarity.
During registration, participants are invited to indicate their preferred level.
To ensure well-balanced groups and a positive learning environment, final level placement will be determined by the teachers, taking into account the overall group composition and observed experience. This approach allows us to adapt the classes to the dancers present and to offer the best possible learning experience for everyone.
